This January, two of our lab members, Dr. Eunsaem Cho and Farhaan Cooverji attended the Snow Measurement Field School 2025, a professional development opportunity focused on hands-on training in snow measurement techniques held from January 1 - 10, 2025 at Mammoth Lake, California. It was a collaboration supported by NASA and organized by: Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science, Inc. (CUAHSI) and Snow International (SINTER)

The field school provided an excellent introduction to the basics of snow measurement for our lab members with informative lectures, exciting fieldwork, and team projects.

I truly enjoyed every moment of the Snow Measurement Field School from CUAHSI. It was a true joy to work with passionate snow researchers. I’m deeply grateful to all of the instructors and staff for making this event unforgettable.

Attending Snow School 2025 has been one of the highlights of my time as a Master's student. I enjoyed engaging with peers and professionals in the snow community, and learning the various techniques and applications of in-situ snow measurement. Conducting a collaborative project at the end of the field school seemed like a perfect way to gain hands-on experience in the field and apply the knowledge we had learned during our stay.

Our members and the Cho Lab are grateful towards the organizers as well as the participants who made the event memorable and filled with learnings for our Eunsaem and Farhaan. We look forward to participating in similar events that provide opportunities for our team members to learn and grow.
